Our 200+ acre farm feels remote, but we are located just 6 miles from downtown Lexington- filled with historic charm, quaint shops, local restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. In the words of my mother-in-law, “Downtown Lexington feels like the set of a Hallmark movie!”

The Barn
Our 150 year old hand-hewn barn is original to the property. It has been completely restored with heat, AC, tons of natural light and modern bathrooms. You get the authentic feel of an old barn without sacrificing comfort or feeling like you’re in a dark cave! Win-win!

We're Buddy, Jill (Knox, Monroe, Scout, and Sunday) Powers, the owners of Big Spring Farm, and we could not feel more blessed to share our property with so many wonderful couples on one of the most special days of their lives!
Big Spring is the fruition of a dream that started on our own wedding day, in our backyard, at our first farm in the Shanendoah valley. After 11 years as wedding photographers (gah that makes us sound old), all the while running a sustainable livestock farm, we found that our deepest passions lie in caring for the land and celebrating the covenant of marriage.
9 years ago we found Big Spring and moved our life here. It has been a complete joy to see it become a place where both farm life and beautiful bespoke events happen in harmony. Yes, the farm is our home, but in many ways it's home for all the couples that start the greatest chapter of their life here. We love seeing each unique event come to life at Big Spring and we love that our family gets to play a part in each couples story!

Of all the decisions that we had to make while planning our wedding, booking Big Spring Farm was probably the easiest and best decision we made. What words can I use to capture the dream that is Big Spring Farm? We visited just one venue and fell in love with it. When our guests asked why we picked Lexington, we told them to wait until they saw Big Spring Farm, and during the wedding they told me they understood. If you are looking for a natural oasis encircled by mountains and that includes a gorgeous barn that is the perfect balance of rustic and elegant, a beautiful large body of water, delicate willow trees, a fire pit, and acres and acres of lush green beauty-- don't look any further.
